I’ve written before about why I only wear Lancôme and Clinique, and about the layering trick that lets me wear shades that would otherwise irritate my lips. This is the full list: every shade currently in my rotation, all from the two brands my lips actually tolerate.
I’m not adding new brands to this list. My lips are specific about what they’ll accept, and after years of testing, I’d rather have a smaller rotation I trust completely than a bigger one I’m nervous about.
Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Crème
This is where most of my collection lives. The crème finish is the one my lips handle the most consistently.

- 0 Moi Moi Moi: the clear one, and the shade behind my layering trick
- 250 Tendre Mirage: a cool nude pink, good if you like soft shades. Not my personal go-to, but I like having it.
- 264 Peut Être and 337 Blush Classique: both really good cool pinky shades, similar to each other with one more toned down than the other. I’d understand wanting both, but you genuinely don’t need both.
- 387 Crushed Rose: my least reached-for. It’s too vampy and dark on me, but it’s a good one to have around if you ever want to switch things up for a bit.
You can find the L’Absolu Rouge Cream Lipstick line here.
Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Intimatte
The matte finish is hit or miss for my lips, but these three shades made the cut.

- 274 French Tea: one of my most distinctive shades, with a bit of warmth to it. I lean pink overall, so this one stands out in my rotation.
- 320 Hush Hush: a more colorful nude compared to Tendre Mirage, worth having if you already like that Tendre Mirage territory but want something with more depth
- 888 French Idol: my stopper shade. Put on minimal makeup, add this, and you look like you made the effort even when you didn’t.
You can find the L’Absolu Rouge Intimatte line here.
Between the crème and Intimatte lines, I own about nine Lancôme lipsticks total. I gave one to my mom, because even I admitted that was a lot.
Clinique Almost Lipstick
The other brand that’s never caused a reaction.

- Pink Honey: my actual go-to, always in full size
- Black Honey: I’ll be honest, it’s too vampy for me and not really my taste. I keep a mini around because I love getting the Christmas stocking-stuffer version every year.
You can find the Clinique Almost Lipstick here.
Why I’m sticking with just these two
I know this list isn’t as long as a typical “lipstick favorites” roundup, and that’s on purpose. Every shade on this list is one I can wear without worrying about a reaction, and after going through actual swelling and years without lipstick at all, that trust matters more to me than variety does.
If you’re dealing with something similar, I’d rather show you a shorter list you can actually trust than a longer one padded with untested guesses.
