For a long time, mornings I was actually going somewhere meant my hair ate up most of my getting-ready time. It looked frizzy overnight, it tangled easily, and by the time I’d fixed it, I had less time left for choosing an outfit, doing makeup, or eating an actual breakfast instead of something rushed on the way out.

I’ve already written about my Airwrap vs. Airstrait comparison and my full Airstrait routine, but this specific trick deserves its own space, because it’s genuinely changed what my mornings look like.

The method

I style my hair with the Airstrait in the late afternoon, on a day I’m not going out. Once it’s done, I add a few drops of Kérastase Elixir Ultime oil, put my hair up in a bun with a satin tie, and sleep in a satin bonnet.

That’s genuinely it. No overnight rollers, no complicated wrap technique, nothing that takes extra time before bed.

What actually happens by morning

My hair comes out of the bun bouncy and shaped, not flat, not frizzy, not tangled. People have told me it looks like I got a professional blowout done at a salon. I didn’t. I slept.

The morning of, all I need is a bit more hair oil worked through and a quick brush. That’s the whole touch-up. No heat tools, no restyling, nothing that eats into the rest of my morning.

Why this actually matters to me

This isn’t really about the hair trick on its own. It’s about what it frees up. On the mornings I used to spend fighting frizz and tangles, I now get to spend that time on the outfit, the makeup, and actually sitting down to eat breakfast instead of grabbing something on the way out the door.

I’ve said something similar about meal planning: the trick isn’t willpower, it’s moving the effort to a moment when you actually have time for it, so the day you need it, it’s already done. This is the exact same idea, just applied to hair instead of food.

Who this works well for

If your hair tangles or frizzes easily overnight, or you’re someone who wants your morning time to go toward literally anything other than styling, this is worth trying. It won’t replace a fresh style every single day, but for the mornings you actually need time back, it’s the closest thing I’ve found to waking up already done.
